In verse 36, Jesus says, “Peace be with you,” yet the disciples remain full of fear. So the Lord rebukes them, asking, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds?” Then in verse 39, He shows them His hands and feet. Still, in the parallel passage in the Gospel of John, Thomas says he cannot believe even what he sees—he must touch to believe. So the Lord tells him, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Only then does Thomas confess, “My Lord and my God!”
Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. But how can those without faith meet the unseen Jesus? To become witnesses of all these things, we must say, “Touch and see,” showing the wounds in our hands and side that have been healed and cleansed by the grace of the Lord and dealt with at the cross—and testify to this work.

Why did Jesus specifically mention in verse 44 that everything written about Him in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled? Even though He showed them the nail marks and even ate food in front of them—revealing Himself through His body and life—ultimately, it all comes down to the Word.
Even if we experience Jesus with our bodies and lives, we must reach the point of opening our hearts to understand the Scriptures. We need to realize that whatever comes—rain, snow, or storm—it is all being fulfilled just as it is written in the Word.
In verse 49, Jesus says, “I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” Power from above—that is, the Holy Spirit—will come upon us in the very place where we remain.

“Lord, I want to be a witness of all these things You have accomplished through Your resurrection. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.”

 

 

[큐티인 그림묵상] 이 모든 일의 증인이라 (눅 24:36-53)

36절에 "너희에게 평강이 있을지어다" 하며 평강을 빌어 주심에도 여전히 두려운 것이 많은 제자들을 향해 주님은 "어찌하여 두려워하며 어찌하여 마음에 의심이 일어나느냐?"고 책망하세요. 그러고는 39절에서 직접 손과 발을 보이십니다. 그럼에도 요한복음 병행 구절에서 도마는 눈으로 보는 것조차 의심되니, 손으로 직접 만져 보아야겠다고 했죠. 그래서 주님은 "네 손가락을 이리 내밀어 내 손을 보고, 네 손을 내밀어 내 옆구리에 넣어 보라 그리하여 믿음 없는 자가 되지 말고 믿는 자가 되라"고 하셨죠. 그때 비로소 도마가 "나의 주님이시요 나의 하나님이시니이다" 하고 고백했어요. 믿음은 바라는 것들의 실상이요, 보이지 않는 것들의 증거라 하시는데, 믿음 없는 사람들이 눈에 보이지도 않는 예수님을 어디서, 어떻게 만날까요? 이 모든 일의 증인이 되려면, 주님의 은혜로 말미암아 깨끗이 치유된, 십자가로 처리된 내 손과 옆구리의 상처를 보여 주면서, 이 일을 간증하며 "만져 보라"고 해야 합니다.

44절에서 굳이 모세의 율법과 선지자의 글과 시편에 주님을 가리켜 기록된 모든 것을 언급하신 이유가 무엇이죠? 못 자국을 보여 주고, 음식까지 먹으며, 몸으로, 삶으로, 보여 주어도 결국은 '말씀'이라는 것이에요. 몸으로, 삶으로 주님을 체험해도 결국은 마음을 열어 성경을 깨닫는 데까지 가야 해요. 내 인생에 비가 오나 눈이 오나 바람이 부나, 그것이 기록된 말씀대로 이루어져 가는 것임을 깨달아야 합니다. 49절에 "볼지어다 내가 내 아버지께서 약속하신 것을 너희에게 보내리니 너희는 위로부터 능력으로 입혀질 때까지 이 성에 머물라"고 하세요. 머문 그곳에 위로부터 능력, 곧 성령이 우리에게 임할 것이기 때문입니다.

"주님이 부활하신 이 모든 일의 증인이 되길 원합니다. 예수 그리스도 이름으로 기도드리옵나이다.아멘"
